Physics 486 Books
Spring 2005
Course home page
- Required Text:
- Shankar, Principles of Quantum Mechanics, 2nd Edition
- Supplementary Text:
- Griffiths, Introduction to Quantum Mechanics, 2nd Edition
This has been the primary text, but it is too expensive, I think.
Shankar covers more material.
- Other books on reserve in the Physics library:
- Park, Introduction to the Quantum Theory
This has been the text from time to time.
- Gasiorowicz, Quantum Physics
This has been the text from time to time.
- Liboff, Introductory Quantum Mechanics
Another possible text, but I am not very familiar with it.
- Cohen-Tannoudji, Quantum Mechanics
Two volumes. Comprehensive, but somewhat formidable. Use for reference.
- Sakurai, Modern Quantum Mechanics
More advanced. Often the P580 text.
- Schiff, Quantum Mechanics
A classic advanced text.
- Even more: (QM is a popular topic)
- Landau & Lifschitz, Messiah, Mertzbacher, Hecht, Capri, Dicke & Wittke, French & Taylor, Das & Melissinos, Abers, etc.
