Quantum Physics I
Physics 486
Spring 2005

This is Max Planck, not Jon Thaler,
although the moustaches are similar.

Welcome to Physics 486. This course is the first semester of a two semester course in quantum mechanics. You will learn how to apply quantum mechanics to 1- and 3- dimensional problems. The two most important examples are the harmonic oscillator and the hydrogen atom. Along the way, you'll learn the formalism that will be useful in this and later studies. In Physics 487, you will learn how to deal with time dependence and radiation. I'll assume that you know linear algebra.

Announcements:
  • My solution to the final exam is posted here.
  • I will be travelling Tuesday and Wednesday. I hope to have final grades by Friday.
