2: Every person is different and a part of what makes each person
unique is their talent, passion, and intellect for specific things.
There are people who are excellent musicians and their passion for the
music and their talent as well as their intellect to play may be their
utmost expression of these characteristics. The same goes for art,
literature, and the science.
3: We did so many fun and memorable projects! We built trebuchets
(ours launched 2 football fields!), made cardboard boats to float in a
nearby lake, and we dropped eggs on our teacher's head. The class made
the math and principles exciting to learn and we applied them to
everyday events.
4: I enjoyed physics so much in high school and needed three more
science credits to recieve my middle endorsement for science, therefore,
this class seemed perfect. I also teach science in the summer at a camp
and I thought I would get some new ideas from the class.
5: Because the speed of light travels so fast (186,000 mi/sec),
how do we measure it and with what? We don't have anything else that
moves that fast.
2: I am a singer and I use music to express myself. I believe
that in order for me to sing my best, I need to exude passion in the
delivery of each note and every phrase. As for talent, I realize that
music can be taught, but there are musical geniuses out there that have
a genuine raw talent that can be surpassed by very few. Musicians also
are known to be very intelligent because they need have the ability to
think on several different levels at one time.
3: Not much... All I really remember is not being fond of my
teacher.
4: So many of my friends in the Education program have taken this
class in the past and absolutely loved it!
5: How do big ships float?
2: I think all four of these subjects requires passion and talent
if one is planning to excel in them. For instance, an artist strive to
have intelligence, passion and talent, just as a musician or scientist
or writer may have. Honestly I think there are more than just these four
catergories that require high levels of all of those human expressions.
3: I remember I always had a pretty good time learning the
material, even when it was pretty difficult. I can remember one project
we did where were built this motor thing with cork and wire and a
battery. I also remember all of the students holding hands and
connecting ourselves to this generator that formed a circuit and when
one person let go there was a shock that we all felt.
4: I think it's so great that there are so many classes offered
to students wanting to become teachers. I liked physics, but not enough
to make a career out of it. I think this class will be extremely helpful
and at the same time at a level that I can appreciate and walk away with
something I can use in my future classroom.
5: I remember a project where we had to figure out the "point of
no return" when it comes to a car stopping at a yellow-turning-red
light. I never really understood it. I think that has to do with
velocity and momentum. Probably forces too.
2: they all do, most things to do them really well need to
involve prequire all those things...
3: I remember alot from physics, i remember learning about
rainbows, and learning about acceleration equations the most. I also
remember learning alot about friction.
4: I loved my physics class in high school and looked like this
class would involve all the fun things that we did. I also heard this
class was fun and intresting. I am really looking foward to it!
5: How do magnets work?
2: I chose art because it is a very general term that could
include both literature and music as well as many other forms. All forms
of art require passion above anything else, but talent and knowledge are
also quite useful in many forms of art.
3: I remember the unspoken objective of my physics class, which
was to distract and irritate the teacher as much as possible. As for
what I remember about the SUBJECT, I mainly remember Newton's laws.
4: I'm a Elementary Ed. major, and I needed a lab. My advisor
suggested Physics 123, and it seemed very interesting from what she
described.
5: How does weather happen?
2: There are so many different forms of art and many ways to
express oneself.
3: I remember my teacher; he always made the class interesting
and he went out of his way to help us learn.
4: I want to be an elementary teacher, so this applies to my area
of study. In addition, I heard that it is a very fun, hands-on course.
Finally, I still needed to fulfill my lab requirement.
5: What is the direction of the force in circular motion?
2: Although all of these activities seem different, they require
a certain level of passion, talent, and intelligence. I think that
people have strengths and are attracted to certain activities. I you
love to do something that human expression will be attached to it.
3: I did not take one.
4: I am not sure what I want to do, I thought the class sounded
extremely interesting.
5: How can a space shuttle leave the atmosphere?
2: As a fine arts major (Acting, specifically), I find myself
most able to express myself through artistic methods. Art is something
that is always right, whereas it's possible to be wrong in science, as
teachers have proved to me time and again... I think it's probably
possible to express oneself through science, but I don't know how--
that's why I'm desiring to learn more!
3: Torque. And I remember this mostly from the stool experiment
where you spun on a frictionless stool and then drew in your arms and
legs closer to you and spun faster. Also, gravity's force is 9.8
somethings per something. But I guess I don't really remember that,
apparently. (:
4: I heard it was a rockin' class from one of my theatre friends.
Plus, I have a science gen ed to fulfill. But mostly because I've heard
it's great.
5: I'll think of a better one for the next time, I hope, but for
now... Why is the sky blue? Something to do with refraction or something
but I don't really know.
2: In my opinion, all of these activities take a tremendous
amount of expression of passion, talent, and intelligence. They all take
passion because you have to love what you're performing, writing, or
experimenting with. Also, talent and intelligence is necessary to be
successful in all of these areas.
3: In my physics class from high school, I remember struggling a
lot, but actually enjoying spending time working with the problems to
find the solutions.
4: I heard from a lot of people that Physics 123 is a really fun
and enjoyable class. Also, my advisor suggested taking it because I am
an elementary education major.
5: Why is the sky blue?
2: Any person in any field can be passionate about their work.
Talent and intelligence comes along with a deep intrest in the subject.
3: I remember being very confused because the teacher couldn't
answer my questions in a way that I could understand. I remember crying
at a test because I didn't know what the test was asking.
4: I want to feel confident in the classroom when students ask me
questions, or at least know where I can find the answers. I've taken CI
405 already, so I have some recent experience with physics so this class
will help reinforce my ideas.
5: Why is the sky blue?
2: I feel like I can always express my most extreme emotions
through writing. Also, although I don't really paint, I feel like I can
feel these extreme emotions from viewing other's art. Science doesn't
really do much for me emotionally, and music is just fun!
3: I didn't take phsyics because I'm horrible at science!
4: My counselor recommended it to me to fulfill my science
requirement. She said everybody loves this class!
5: Anything dealing with electricity, or anything with electrons
and neutrons.
2: I believe areas such as science and math are very concrete,
there is only one answer you can arrive at that would be correct.
However, the worlds of Art, Music and Literature are limitless. I do
understand that it takes much talent and intelligence to prove some of
the theories that we know today and that make much of our research
possible, but when I think of passion, I think of expressions such as
music or art.
3: I remember the exams being difficult but the hands on
experiments being a blast! They were fun and interesting.
4: I've always had in interest in physics and how the world works
but I didn't think I would be able to keep up in a college physics class
such as physics 101. When I heard there was a class that teaches the
basics of physics, I jumped at the oppurtunity to take it.
5: What came first, the chicken or the egg....?
2: I think that art, music, and literature are always open for
interpretation. They support the idea of expression and passion while I
feel science is based on more factual and concrete things.
3: My teacher making the class very fun and interesting. We
learned the fundamentals of physics. Many topics included words like
force, gravity, tension, luminousity...and for some odd reason the one
thing I remember is that acceleration due to gravity at the earth's
surface is 9.8 m/s^2.
4: I liked it in high school, and I thought it'd be a good class
to take to fulfill the gen ed requirement.
5: Basically anything to do with Chemistry; for instance, I could
not tell you the difference between a mixture and a compound.
2: I think all of the acitivities require expression of passion,
talent and intelligence. Because in order to do you best work in any of
the four areas you must have all three of the qualities.
3: I remember having to go in early almost every day to get help
because the problem sets were really difficult. Also some of the
experiements were confusing and long which was frustrating. The best of
high school physics was going to Six Flags for physics day.
4: I decided to take this class because I needed a science with a
lab. But more importantly because I heard it was a fun class and you get
to keep some of the materials to use when we are teaching which is
really cool.
5: How does a fish sleep?
2: I chose these two first because of the intelligence factor and
then because I thought about how passionate both great writers and
scientists are about what they are writing or researching.
3: I remember a lot of the labs about motion and force, playing
with cars on ramps and things like that. I also remember the music unit
where we had to make instruments and play a song, as we learned about
waves and things like that.
4: I heard from a lot of education friends that it is a great
class. I heard it was fun and you learn a lot that helps you as we
become teachers. I also needed one more science class so it is just
perfect and I am very excited to be in it.
5: I think any question with any big details I would have trouble
answering like how how big is the atom or dna or anything like how
strong are our muscles?
2: Science because i am a science major and i have all three :)
3: statics...the teacher's hair stood up
4: I thought it would be an interesting class after taking phys
101 and 102 i wanted to try this class out
5: How are x-rays done at hospital relevant to physics?
2: I was in orchestra in 4th grade and then switched over to band
in the 5th grade and I quit after my senior year in high school. Over
those 8 years of band, I have learned that there are so many different
ways to make a sound out of an instrument. The volume, vibrato, style,
the list goes on and on. Also, to put together a piece of work, with
multiple instruments, is a very complicated task. Balancing, tuning, and
blending as one sound can be extremely difficult.
3: I never took a physics class in high school. I had honors bio,
honors chem, then genetics.
4: I heard it was pretty easy and it's made generally for
elementary education majors, which pertains to me!
5: "Teacher, why is the sky blue?" There are so many opinions for
the answer, but I will never know the correct one!
2: I believe science involves the most passion, talent, and
intelligence. Art can be done without intelligence. Any uneducated
person can spill paint onto a canvas and call it art. Literature, i
believe, can be done well without passion. Although passion will make
literature better, it is not as important as in science. Music is
similar to art in my mind. It can ge done wihtout intelligence. Muscles
can be trained to perform the right combination of buttons, chords, etc.
to make a melodious sound. Science, however, encompasses all three.
3: That a rocket ship is not a projectile because it continues to
propel it self through the air.
4: I enjoy physics and my mother is a second grade teacher and
hopefully after this class i can go visit her classroom and show the
kids some neat things and get them intersted in science.
5: If forces are equal why does it hurt me more than the other
person when we run into each other?
2: Literature, because by writing you can express yourself and
your passions. If you have a talent in literature, it makes you sound
intelligent because you are more likely to use complicated words and
sentences.
3: The force of gravity
4: My interest in physics and a recommendation from a friend.
5: Why is the sky blue? I know the answer, but it is complicated
and difficult to explain to a child so young.
2: Some people will show passion, talent, and intelligence in
these areas while others won't. But those that are most interested in
each of these areas will most likely show these expressions in some way.
3: I remember it being very hands on, more than my other science
classes which I think helped me in understanding the concepts a lot more
than I did in my other classes.
4: I heard that it was a fun class to take and hadn't heard many
good things about any other classes that offered a lab so I thought i'd
take this one for that credit!
5: Why is the sky blue?
2: I beleive that in order for an indiviudal to excel in any
activity passion, talent, and intelligence must be present. An
individual has to give their all if they want to be successful in any
task that they wish to excel in.
3: The one thing that I most remeber from physics is when we
examined color and how it is viewed from our eyes.
4: I heard that it was a good class to take and that the
professor was very fun. I also needed a lab and I beleive that this
class will help me in the future when I have my own class of students.
5: Probably...why is the sky blue? or Why are clouds different
shapes and sizes?
2: Science and Music are more about accuracy than art and
literature, which are mostly concerned with creativity of expression.
3: I didn't have a physics class in high school.
4: It's called Physics Made Easy so I thought it would be "easy"
and I needed a Physical Science class.
5: Why are the planets arranged how they are?
2: I feel that literature involves the largest expression of
passion talent and intelligence because all of the choices can be
encompassed in literature. You can use your talent as a writer to
describe the look and feel of both art and music. Science must be
recorded, so scientific literature is also an aspect of science.
3: I remember my physics teacher. I did not like the way he
structured the class and most of the students had a negative opinion of
him as a teacher. Some of the students made a cartoon of the teacher
with a combination of his name and godzilla. It was overall a very
negative experience.
4: I decided to take Physics 123 in order to fulfill my lab for
my required science courses. I also hoped that the title "Physics made
easy" would be true!
5: How do you make a rainbow?
2: Depending on a persons preference will depend on the way he or
she expresses his or her passion, talent and intelligence. Any person
can become passionate about anything and can become talented in the
subject they are passionate about because that captures their interest.
Additionally, through research and curiosity that person may become
intelligent with their subject interest.
3: I took Honors Physics my senior year and I did not like it. My
teacher was very intelligent, yet became frustrated with his students
when explaining concepts to his students. If I asked him a question, he
did not understand why I struggled with it. He made us present our
homework in front of the entire class as a group. If he did not agree
with something he interrogated the person presenting until they gave the
answer he was looking for. Additionally, his exams were impossible.
There may have been only 3 questions on the entire thing and each
question would have 5 or 6 parts to it and if you got one thing wrong it
made most of the problem wrong. I think I would have enjoyed physics if
I had a different teacher, obviously.
4: I am interested in becoming endorsed to teach middle school.
My advisor informed me that I only needed to take two more Science
classes to do so. I chose Physics 123 because of her recommendation. She
told me I would be able to take my experiences in the class with me when
I teach in the future. I thought this class would help me with
incorporating Science into my future classroom.
5: How was earth created, where did it come from?
2: intelligence definitley made me pick science, and the rest of
the descriptions also go with science. Literature you need inteligence
more so than music and art. It's hard for me to say because they all
need to be smart and passionate about their own subjects, that you can't
really relate them to eachother.
3: getting really sick on physics day at six flags :(
4: I am en el ed major and i heard it was a really good class for
teachers.
5: Why do clouds form the different shapes that they do, and why
are they different colors (different shades of white/gray)?
2: I think that each subject can exert incredible amount of
expression, passion, talent, and entelligence. People can express their
passion through what they love, which can be through any of theses
activities.
3: I remember doing very long problems involving force, gravity,
and mass.
4: It was recommended to my by my advisor.
5: I'm not sure.
2: "Art" is very vague; I think that literature, music and
possibly some things in science fall under the category.
3: It was easy for a few weeks, and then got incredibly
confusing. I remember that there are a ton of equations, ... but that is
all.
4: I'm considering becoming an elementary school teacher. Also,
despite that I never understand anything, I remember that there were a
lot of interesting facts in physics and it sounded like this class was
then perfect for me (cool facts, without math!).
5: What makes gravity?
2: I think that all four chocies involve talen and intelligence
but those 2 seem to have the best expression of passion. It is a way to
release emptions. Art is also a good way to express passion but words
tend to be stronger.
3: I just remember learning about atoms. Our class had a joke of
a teacher and we pretty much got away with anything we wanted, which was
fun then but did not prepare us at all.
4: I heard it was a fun lab that could really change the way I
thought about science which tends to be that science is difficult to
understand.
5: How does salt melt ice when it's frozen? Why do some people
use sand on icy roads? Why doesn't salt melt water in a cup!?
2: More than any other activity, these seem to need a balance of
mind (intellegence), talent and ability to create with hands or to play
an instrument, and passion to actually create meaning behind the art and
music.
3: I remember doing problems with velocity and mass.
4: I heard it was an interesting and fun class. I'm looking for a
science class that is not overwhelmingly difficult because it is not my
favorite subject.
5: Questions about evolution and the origins of man.
2: Both literature and music can express passion, talent, and
intelligence. In order to write well, one must be passionate about what
they are writing about. Same goes with music. If you are forced to
practice an instrument, the passion will not show. As for intelligence,
good writing includes a variety of words, as well as decent grammer
abilities, and good music involves understanding chords, measures and
beats. Through this intelligence, talent shows.
3: Unfortunately, I did not take a physics class.
4: I heard this class was great for Elementary Education majors
(which I plan to be), and I heard the professor was great as well. Also,
since I didn't take it in high school, I felt I needed to learn it. I
can use what I learn with my future students.
5: When you put water and oil together in a cup they do not mix,
why?
2: I think that when you are either performing or listening to
music you are investing something of yourself. Performing music you will
have passion in the fact that you are actually creating something as
opposed to either reading or viewing something.
3: I remember my teacher helped to clarify difficult points and
ideas through the use of interesting experiments which were fun to watch
and take part in.
4: I want to take a Physics class here at Illinois. Also, I
learned a lot and had fun in my physics class in high school so I wanted
to try another class here at Illinois.
5: I would like to know how a flashlight works.
2: It takes passion to have the dedication to write a great
story, it takes talent to be able to express a feeling in words, and it
takes intelligence to do it without mistakes.
3: Kinematics
4: I liked physics in high school.
5: Why is the earth round
2: Literature must have all of these components otherwise it will
not be interesting. In addition, science involve passion because you
would not want to take part in different science topics if you were not
interested in it. It also takes talent and intelligence to be sure that
everything is done correctly.
3: I remember doing a lot of hands on experiments.
4: I heard from students that took it last spring that it was a
great class!
5: Why is the sky blue? I know this was explained to me in high
school, but I still don't remember the reasoning!
2: Each activity uses a different part of a person's expression,
so I think that they all equally involve some sort of human expression.
It think it really is up to the individual and where their interest lies
for the activity to become their passion.
3: Not really much of anything, except for the graphs of time,
distance, velocity, and acceleration.
4: I heard it was a great class and I wanted to take another
class in order to get a middle school endorsement in science.
5: Why do light bulbs "burn out"?
2: Literature because it is very difficult to explain in words
what you are feeling and to have someone read it and be able to relate
to it is amazing. Not only do you have to understand sentence structure
but your story or poem has to make sense and flow well. You can have
passion for anything but being able to focus and not get frustrated when
it does not come out right is a great gift. Music shows human expression
as well and is neccessary to be extremely talented to write and play a
moving piece.
3: I remember a few equations but not much especially when it
comes to understanding the concept. I could do the math but I never
could grasp it.
4: I needed to take a lab and physics 123 seemed fun and
educational for an elementary education major, which will help in the
future.
5: There are many that I do not remember because I had difficulty
with them but those focused on the different types of force involved on
an object maybe challenging for me to explain further if they do not
understand it the first time.
2: When each of these activities is done well, they all include
passion, talent and intelligence. I don't feel that one, more than any
of the others requires more of any of those traits.
3: I did not take physics in high school but what I remember most
about the physics classes in my high school was when they made
trebuchets.
4: I heard from friends that it is a really fun and interesting
course. I'm also doing a specialization in science.
5: Where does lightning come from?
2: I picked art because when you create something such as
artwork, all of the talent comes from you, and there is no right way to
"make" art. However, I think all the other choices encompas different
kinds of talent and intelligence.
3: I remember that we had to make a contraption that would
protect an egg when dropped from a certain height. We could only use
certain materials, and we had about 1 week to finish this project.
4: I took Physics 123 because I heard it was a good, fun class
designed especially for Education majors.
5: I feel like I could answer questions about force and mass and
acceleration.
2: I feel science requires an incredible amount of knowledge and
intelligence to be proficient in the field, and the most passion and
talent can be displayed through art, literature, and music. The fine
arts demand natural talent and a desire and passion for the activity.
3: I remember that potential energy is energy that is preparing
or waiting to be exerted, and kinetic energy is energy that is being
exerted.
4: I need another science class, and I'm preparing to be a middle
school biology teacher, but there is a great chance that I will be
teaching more types of science than just biology. This should remind me
of the physics that I learned in high school.
5: I have little confidence in explaining why things happen in
regards to physics. If a child asked, "Why does something happen?" I
would have a difficult time answering it.
2: Any activity can demonstrate human passion, talent, and
intelligence. When a person is passionate about something, they will put
in all their effort to do the best job possible.
3: The last time I studied physics in high school was when I tool
A-level Phys/Chem my freshman year. I remember some of the basic laws
such as Newton's laws and how gravity works.
4: I am studying to be an elementary teacher and I heard this is
a great class for elementary education majors. I also heard it is easy
and the professor is a good teacher. It seems like it will be a great
class!
5: When you ride a rollercoaster upside down, why don't you fall
out?
2: I am a firm believer of Gardner's Multiple Intelligence
Theory. Every person is intelligent and talented in one aspect or
another; art, literature, music, science. Therefore, talent usually
breeds passion which enhances the overall intelligence.
3: I never took physics in high school.
4: I took Physics 123 in order to fulfill another science
requirement for elementary education. Physics 123 was developed
primarily for education majors; therefore, I felt it was a perfect fit!
Also, I heard great reviews about the class!
5: Why is the grass green?
2: I personally think that people who like science are very
unique. I always found science to be complicated and it takes a certain
type of mindset to tackle science. People in the field of science know
what they want and they strive to achieve it. They have a passion to
discover new things and they are not afraid to ask questions.
3: I remember that I was the only senior in my high school
physics class. It was a very easy class, because my teacher was very
lenient.
4: I want to take a physics class to refresh my memory of my high
school physics, and my advisor recommended me to take Physics 123.
5: What happens if the earth runs out of air one day?
2: It takes someone with a lot of knowledge of the subject to
write a piece of literature and many who write literature are very
intelligent. But not everyone who is intelligent can right literature.
One must also have a talent at writing as well as a passion for
literature.
3: failing the tests
4: I think its always good to know the basics of physics. Physics
is all around me and it would be nice to know more about it.
5: Why two thinks of different masses if dropped from the same
height reach the ground at the same time.
2: I believe that all of these activities involve the utmost
human expression of passion, talent, and intelligence. If studied to the
highest degree by those who are dedicated, all fields require all of the
characteristics listed above in order to be successful.
3: Since there were only 18 seniors in my school who decided to
take honors physics, my teacher was very dedicated to us and our class
had a very comfortable atmosphere. I liked how he created silly
scenerios for our problems, such as an armadillo strapped to a rocket on
rollerblades shooting off a cliff at 80 mph. It made the problems more
fun to do, especially because he drew silly drawings as he explained the
problem.
4: I have heard a lot of good things about this class from
friends who took it last year and the year before.
5: If there were a collision, which would exert more force on the
other: A liter bucket of water or a liter bucket full or frozen water?
2: Everyone enjoys music, everyone tries to create it, but some
people just fail. As we learn from American Idol, it's impossible for
some people to criticize themselves.
3: Basic mechanics, Newton's laws, some astronomy, videos of
bridges collapsing.
4: A good friend of mine is a TA and he said it would be a fun
and refreshing class. And being a business guy, having a group lab with
education majors should be enjoyable.
5: It's a special case, but we had a 2nd grader who got brought
over for my eigth grade math class. He basically talked in numbers and
wanted to learn about space-time. Im pretty sure the majority of 2nd
grade teachers couldn't handle that.
2: off all the four, it is the most difficult for me to wrap my
mind around, and it's tedious so it demands a lot of precision and
effort
3: i didn't take one
4: i've never taken a physics class and i think i would benefit
from expanding my knowledge in this area...and i've heard it's very easy
to take in
5: is the sun a planet or a star?
2: I believe that art takes A LOT of talent and passion to make
art from a person. Literature involves much knowledge of english, as
well as creativity, becuse it is difficult to just sit down and write a
book without any education or imagination.
3: I do not remember much, because my teacher did not leave a big
impression. I don't believe that she was a very creative teacher, and
the course was just boring to me.
4: I needed to take a physical science lab, and many people
reccommended the course to me. I also think it is cool that the class is
aimed for teachers.
5: Questions like "How things Work" For example, "how electricity
flows to create our light in lightbulbs"
2: Art and music both involve these qualities because in order to
perform at the highest level, "the utmost human expression of passion,
talent, and intelligence" is needed. You have to be passionate about
what you do. Both art and music require a lot of talent and creativity.
3: I don't remember much, but I do remember that there are
trigonometry equations that are used in physics. I also remember
somewhat about force and gravity.
4: I plan on becoming an elementary school teacher so I think
this class will help me in the future when I teach science to my
students. I'm also really interested in science and I am hoping that
this class will be interesting and fun.
5: How does a lightbulb work?
2: I think music requires the utmost human expression because it
involves science art and literature. It's an art based on science, you
write it in the for of literature.
3: building a bridge out of noodles.
4: I need to take care of a gen. ed. and it seemed interesting
5: Why is the sky blue?
2: Every facet of musicality, whether it pertains to composition
or performance, requires an incredible amount of effort and energy. In
its most basic sense, composers put their passion and intelligence into
their work, and the performers attempt to convey the composer's message
to an audience. The performance of a particular musical work is never
the same because the players behind the work are constantly making their
own valid musical interpretations.
3: I remember the enthusiasm and the energy that the teacher put
into the subject material. I remember really enjoying the class because
everything I learned seemed to be relevant.
4: Some friends of mine who had taken the course recommended it
to me. They felt that they got a lot out of both the lectures and labs.
5: It might seem like a vague quesion, but what makes water what
it is? Why is there no taste and why is it clear?
2: They all show all of these qualities but I think that art
shows the most human expression just because the talent is visible to
others. Everyone can really see how much work is being put into it and
value it more.
3: I did not take physics in high school.
4: it was recommended to me and it fufilled one of my general
education courses.
5: I would not be able to answer a question related to atoms and
the periodic table because i barely remember it.
2: I think they all involve the expression of passion, talent,
and intelligence because in order for a person to be great in any of the
fields they need to be passionate about their work, have talent, and be
intelligent.
3: I remember the fun experiements we did, like the egg drop and
an experiement with convex and convave mirrors.
4: I decided to take Physics 123 because I want to become an
elementary school teacher and it sounded like a fun class.
5: Why is there not gravity in outer space?
2: To be a writer you have to WANT to be a writer, which is where
passion comes into play. You must be talented for anyone to want to read
what you write, and you have to know what works and what doesn't work,
so being knowledgable about previous works (intelligence) helps with
that.
3: I didn't have physics in high school.
4: I had to have another science with a lab, and I don't feel
comfortable in most math and science classes. A friend suggested this
course to me because he said it was fun and pretty easy while you are
still learning. I'm also a hands on learner, so having the labs before
lecture is a major reason.
5: What does it mean to have a music room set up accoustically
and why does it matter?
2: I think this area fulfills all three requirements. Art and
Music seem to gear more towards passion and talent. I feel that Science
involves a great deal of talent and intelligence, but may lack slightly
in passion.
3: The mathematical formulas more so than the theories and
general concepts.
4: I enjoyed Physics in high school but did not love it so much
that I wanted to take a tremendously difficult Physics class.
5: Why is the sky blue?
2: I think all involve passion, talent, and intelligence.
3: I remember simple machines and doing experiments with them.
4: I'm taking it to fulfill a lab credit for elementary
education. I heard it was a great fun class to take.
5: Why is the sky blue?
2: A person can have a passion for something whether it is art,
literature, music or science. Equally passionate, talented and
intelligent people work in all of these fields.
3: I did not take a physics class in high school.
4: I needed to fulfill a science requirement with a lab. My
advisor recommended Physics 123 and I have heard good things about this
course from my friends.
5: Why can't I (the elementary school student) look straight at
the sun?
2: I think that all of these activities require people's
expression of passion, talent, and intelligence in order for them to
truely benefit from them.
3: I never took a physics class in high school.
4: I am taking Physics 123 for my physical science lab credit. I
think this class will be very beneficial to me because I hope to
incorporate some of the unique labs and experiments into my classroom
when I am a teacher. I think that science is more fun for kids when they
feel a connection to the material because they are intrigued or
fascinated by it.
5: How does an ice cube float in water if it is a solid and the
water is a liquid?
2: This is a bad question, each field requires its own set of
skills and enthusiasm is a requirement for almost all great
achievements. In my opinion, science requires the greatest deal of
intelligence in the respect that one must understand all the previously
acquired knowledge of an area and still see something noone else has to
make a breakthrough, and music requires the most innate talent.
3: rube-goldberg experiments
4: looked like fun
5: when is the sun going to die?
2: I think that any one of those choices will involve the upmost
human expression of passion, talent, and intelligence depending on what
interests you. Some people love music and focus all of their effort into
it, whereas other people truly love literature and devote all of their
time to writing a novel. I think that it depends on the type of person
you are, and what interests you.
3: I did not take a physics class in high school.
4: I have never taken a physics class before, and wanted to take
one to see if physics was something that interested me. I chose to take
Physics 123, specifically, because I knew that it was an introductory
course designed for students who wanted to teach an elementary science
class. Hopefully, I will be teaching science to an elementary class, so
I thought this class would be perfect for me. I also heard that Physics
123 was a fun course.
5: How much does an atom weigh?
2: Science does not only require knowledge, but also creativity.
I think to be a scientist you have to be passionate and truly want to
learn more about the world around you.
3: I remember doing a lot of labs that really helped me learn the
material. I really liked my physics class because it was hands on.
4: I could use a refresher of physics concepts before I take
tests to try to get into graduate school. I thought this would be a fun
course. Also, I have always been interested in teaching so this would
give me an idea of what that would be like.
5: Why do things float?
2: I believe all activities involve passion, talent, and
intelligence. You need to have all three in order effectively carry out
those activities, and have the drive to do that.
3: I remember doing some activities- building the bridge,
something with tongs, ect. I also remember my teacher, however I do not
think we did as much learning as I think we should have- when we had fun
it was not educational or pertaining to Physics.
4: I want to learn more about it - and how to make it fun for
elementary kids, since I want to teach them. I also heard that this
class was a lot of fun and that you learn a lot from it.
5: if you shoot a gun straight and at the same time drop an
identical bullet to the ground at the same height, which one hits the
ground first?
2: I think for you to be involved in anything, you need to have
the desire to do so. You would need to have knowledge about the topic
and bring something to the topic that makes you happy.
3: velocity formulas
4: I have had friends who took it, and they said they really
enjoyed it! I thought it'd be fun to regain my knowledge about physics
again in an active and exciting way.
5: Why is the sky blue?
2:
3: I hated it.
4: Rupal V Nayak told me to.
5: Why can't we see God?
2: I believe that art, lit, and music all allow for human
expression of passion, and showcase one's talent and intelligence. I
don't see how science allows for expression of passion.
3: I didn't take a physics class in high school.
4: It was reccomended to my by my counselor
5: Why is the sky blue?
2: I think that in all subjects it takes passion, talent and
intelligence. In order to succeed in any of these you must love what you
are doing. If you hate it and have a bad attitude it will be very hard
to succeed. Also you must have some talent to a certain degree otherwise
you would struggle so much and lose the passion for it. Finally you
defintely have to be somewhat intelligent as well because all these
subjects require some brain power.
3: I remember building a boat made of only cardboard and duck
tape and we had to be able to fit two grown people in and paddle our way
across our school's swimming pool. The boat races we by far the most fun
part of my physics class!
4: I heard that it was a very interesting class and very fun as
well, so I figured that if I need to take a lab I might as well take
something like this!
5: How come the sidewalk cracks the way it does?
2: I think that all can express passion, intelligence, and talent
if it is something that the person really cares about and loves doing.
However, I feel that people who really love to make artwork express the
most passion in their work because it is visible and painting, etc. can
show what people were thinging about at that time.
3: I never took a physics class in high school.
4: I am an elementary education major, and it was reccomended to
me.
5: I would not be able to answer any questions about chemicals,
etc. because I have never been good at science, especially that.
2: I believe that music, literature and science all involve the
utmost human expression of passion, talent and intelligence; however art
does not combine all of these qualities. In art, I believe that art
takes passion and talent, but does not involve intelligence. Art is more
of a self-expression. An activity that any human can take part in and
call it their own piece of art. In music, humans can be passionate about
their work, talented to play the music, and intelligent enough to read
and present the music. In literature, a writer is passionate to write,
intelligent and talented enough to articulate. In science, a human must
have passion of science, talented and intelligent to discover new
findings and create scientific observations.
3: I did not have a physics class in high school.
4: I took Physics 123 because I felt like I could take a lot out
of the class, and learn a lot of information that I could pass down to
my students. I really enjoy learning and science; however, have just
never really been good at it. I think that it will be really interesting
to learn how real life things work in relation to physics. Also, I heard
that this class was a lot of fun!!
5: Why are my eyes brown, and your eyes are blue? I really dont
know much of biology and genetics and def would not be confident in
answering this question.
2: Art and music because it will show in a person's performance
if they do not have the passion and talent for it. Literature and
science because like art and music, to do something well, you need to
have a great amount of passion, talent and intelligence to be successful
in that field.
3: I remember doing a lot of labs, most of which after completion
proved our hypotheses wrong. I also remember it was a lot of fun and I
really loved the classes.
4: It was the only one in the particular GenEd I needed that I
actually thought that I would like.
5: I won't have students in the future, but if I did, one
question would be "Who thought up science?"
2: Art and music both allow one to express emotion by means other
than just words, yet have the ability to be greatly understood and
interpreted. Literature, on the other hand, is an intricate combination
of words that allows the writer to convey a certain message to a reader
and also allows the reader to form his or her own opinions concerning
the work and, most times, life.
3: I remember my teacher the most, because he is known as a
physics god-- a tiny cute old man who turned down a job working for NASA
in order to devote his time and passion to teaching sometimes ungrateful
high school kids. From actual physics.... umm.... not too much. I really
enjoyed shooting rockets out on our football field and making different
kinds of waves with jump ropes.
4: I have heard the class is amazingly fun and helps those of us
who tend to be a bit scientifically challenged to conjure the best of
our science abilities. I also really enjoyed that it is geared towards
prospective teachers.
5: How do planes stay up in the air?
2: Music involves focusing on many different things at once. This
difficult task requires passion to push past the hard parts, some talent
to hold one's interest to their instrument(s), and intelligence to read
music and play.
3: I had a lot of fun! I really enjoyed the class because my
teacher made it interesting and exciting.
4: I have heard a lot of great things from classmates that have
taken this class in the past.
5: Anything about astronomy!
2: I think they all take passion, talent, and intelligence
because to be good at these things you must be very dedicate and
passionate. It is important to show these characteristics in order to be
sucessful.
3: I don't remember too much from high school physics, but of all
the topics I rember circuits the most.
4: I took this Physics course because I need to have a lab
science and because I heard that was a fun and useful course for
education majors.
5: Why does it sometimes rain even if it is colder than 32
degrees farenheit?
2: I can't just pick one choice because I think that all of them
require a great deal of passion, talent, and intelligence on the
subject.
3: I remember all of the fun demonstrations that my teacher would
do...I also remember that it was a LOT of work!
4: My counselor suggested the course, and I thought it would be a
good experience and good knowledge to have since I want to major in
elementary education.
5: Why do owls sleep during the day?(besides just saying because
they're nocturnal)
2: Even though there is room for expression in the other three, I
think that starting with a completely blank canvas (or whatever medium
is used, I guess) and turning it into something original takes the most
amount of creativity and vision.
3: I did not take a physics class in high school.
4: I needed a science lab and I have heard this one is fun and
interesting.
5: I would have no confidence answering just about any questions
about small particles or atoms.
2: All of the different activities allow different people to
express themselves in different ways. For one person, the umost human
expression may come in the form of art and for someone else it may be
science.
3: I remember doing a lot of hands-on activities and
demonstrations that helped our learning, but I do not remember a
significant amount of information.
4: I plan to be a kindergarten or first grade teacher and I have
heard that physics 123 prepares you by teaching various science
experiment that can be used in your own classroom.
5: why is pluto no longer considered a planet?
2: I think all these activites involve a ton of expression of
passion, talent, and intelligence. I don't think you can say that one
involves more than the other.
3: I don't remember much of anything to be honest! Random words
will sounds familiar and when looking at problems they look familiar,
too, but I don't remember how to solve or what the answers are.
4: It was highly recommended by my advisors in education.
5: Why is the sky blue? I think every kid asks that question at
some point in their life!
2: Musicians really have to have a lot of passion for what they
do. It takes a lot of time and they have to be dedicated. Musicians also
have to be gifted and talented and of course intelligent. It is believed
that musicians are also intelligent because of the music they play.
3: Physics day at Great America
4: I heard it was a good and interesting class and everyone I
talked to highly enjoyed it.
5: Why doesn't water smell? (most of the time)
2: I feel of all these, science does not fit in as well because
very rarely does science create something new. Every work of music, art
and literature is unique and different in its own way, but also created
by someone's thoughts and movements. Science, when it comes to creating
something new, requires multiple tests and perfections before anything
is properly "created".
3: I remember my teacher having the class stand in a circle and
hold hands. He would then turn on something to create an electric
current and touch it. Immediately everyones faced twitched a bit because
it was flowing through the whole class. I also remember learning that
the person not holding another person's hand (the last in line) had it
the worst because he had nowhere to send the current.
4: I enjoyed physics is high school, but now do not remember
enough math and such to do any real college-level physics course. I
needed an elective and it sounded interesting.
5: I am not an education student, but a question I don't think I
could answer would be why the power sometimes goes out in residential
areas.
2: I would say science over all the others because even thought
art and much require passion and talent, they do not necessary require
much intelligence.
3: I did not take a physics class in high school.
4: I am an Elementary Education major and I heard this was the
best class and most related to the type of physics I will be dealing
with in the future.
5: what makes up an atom?
2: in order to master a subject, a person must possess passion,
talent, and intelligence for that subject. i think that all of these
areas require the same amount of these.
3: i remember trying really hard to understand physics and never
having it click for me. my teacher tried to help me all the time, but it
just never made sense to me.
4: regardless of my inability to understand physics, i maintain
an interest in the subject and i wish to learn more about it. i took
this class because i think it will explain physics in a way that i will
enjoy and be able to apply it to my life.
5: how does gravity work?
2: My answer is personal. I feel like I express myself the best
through music. Music is relatable and helps me feel better. It also
inspires me.
3: I remember making rockets.
4: I heard that many students enjoyed the class.
5: Why is the sky blue?
2: All of these activities involve intelligence and talent.
However, not everyone shares a passion for the same subject, therefore
sometimes people develop more intrest for one particular subject and
thus become more knowledgeable of that particular subject. However, this
does not mean that one subject is more important than the other.
3: I don't remember much, but I do remember using vectors.
4: I feel that if in high school I would have had more
explanation as to why things happen instead of participating in a lab
for a 50 min. period everyday, I might have learned more about how
things work and therefore developed more skills concerning physics
5: Why are some plants green and why are flowers different
colors?
2: I've been dancing since I was four, and I believe very
strongly that movement is the best way to express your passion. In my
case, my passion is dance, and through dance I'm able to express both
talent and a love for doing it. I think that dance is a form of art, and
of course music plays an important role in dance as well.
3: In high school, I took Honors Physics as well as AP Physics. I
remember quite a bit, but I think that the things I most remember would
be drawing force diagrams to solve for an object's net force,
acceleration, and mass. We got into some pretty complicated problems,
but I always loved getting the right answer because you know that all
the hard work paid off.
4: I'm and elementary education major, and I thought this course
would be perfect for me since I love physics. Not only does this course
fufill my need for some physics, but it allows me to expand my teaching
abilities as well.
5: Pretty much anything having to do with chemistry because
chemistry is definitely not my strong point. So I think that if a
student were to ask me, for example, how a substance can become
something else through chemical reactions that I would have a hard time
answering them.
2: Everyone has there thing in which they are good at, but not
everyone has the passion for these given qualities, so everyone as
individuals have their power to involve themselves into something that
deepl cares for. All of these subject areas have thier own identity and
the experts in the field really engulf themselves in thier beauty.
3: newton's laws.. we got to play with fun toys.
4: highly recommedned.. and heard great things.
5: why can i do things in water that i can not do on land?
(lifting heavy objects, and flips)
2: I feel that all of the activities involve the utmost human
expression of passion, talent, and intelligence because in order to
excell in these activities one needs passion, talent and intelligence.
3: I remember physics being really interesting.
4: Some of my friends have taken the class and they loved it.
5: "Why is the sky blue?"
2: I can not pick one of these four and say that it involves more
passion, etc. Each of these categories requires great passion and
involvement from the individual involved in the activity.
3: I remember doing an experiment that invoved calculating the
trajectory of a ball. My partner and I had to calculate where the ball
would land after it was launched into the air. We put a piece of scotch
tape on the floor where we believed the ball would land. The team that
was the closest to their mark got an extra point.
4: I am going to attempt a transfer into the college of
education. If I am accepted, I will need one more class with a lab. I
have always had an interest in physics and enjoyed the class I took in
high school. So, this is not simply a class I am taking for a gen. ed.
requirement. I am truly interested in physics and hope to pass on what I
learn in this class to the children I will hopefully teach one day.
5: What happens to stuff when it comes to earth from outter
space?
2: I think that doing anything without passion, talent, or
intelligence leaves the product lacking so many things. I do not feel as
if one subject is better than the other. Therefore, if an activity were
to be fully accomplished, the person involved must feel connected to the
subject so that others can see the passion, talent and intelligence
shine through.
3: My high school physics teacher was amazing. He loved the
subject and we knew it in the way he taught it to us. The thing I
remember most was being chosen to sit on a turning platform while
holding weights. He spun me and instructed me to pull in or extend my
arms to show the increase or decrease of speed with the motion.
4: I've heard so many positive things about the class; it sounded
really fun.
5: Why don't other planets have gravity?
2: Literature forces you to verbalize human expressions that you
may not believe have words. This takes the most percision and
intelligence to properly express yourself through words.
3: I wasn't a huge fan of my teacher but the material was
interesting. I loved doing experiments and getting hands-on experience.
4: I'm goign to be a high school math teacher and I'm looking for
some far off way to incorporate physics experiments (even if they are
somewhat elementary) into my classroom in an interesting ways. Possibly
making math experiments that stem from activities in class. Also I'd
like to get more insight into the subject of physics.
5: N/a - I won't have elementary students.
2: I think that Art involves the most human expression of passion
and talent. In my opinion, a lot of emotions and thoughts can be
portrayed in Art. Art can be a way of expressing different ideas and
emotions of certain subjects that cannot be explained verbally. I also
think that Art involves a lot of talent. Some people are naturally good
at drawing, painting, or pottery, while it can be very challenging for
others. Science on the other hand takes both talent and intelligence.
Like Art, some people find it easy to understand science concepts, while
others struggle grasping the ideas. I think Science takes intelligence
as well to be able to logically understand and analyze different ideas.
3: Although I do not remember a lot of the material I learned
from my junior year physics class, I do remember a lot about my teacher
and his different teaching techniques to help us understand the lesson.
He had six children all under the age of five, so he was somewhat
unorganized and stressed. Although his home life seemed somewhat crazy,
he always did everything he could to make sure we understood the
material. I specifically remember a treasure hunt we did all around the
school. I think it had something to do with distance and displacement.
It was fun and it helped me understand the lesson at the time.
4: I decided to take Physics 123 because I really enjoy science
and I'm interested in learning how things work. I knew that the class
was specifically designed for education majors so the class seemed
perfect for me. I am also a hands on learner so I think I will benefit a
lot from the labs.
5: I don't think I could answer a question regarding how
everything came to be because some schools teach creationism and some
schools teach evolution. It would also be hard to explain the topic
because of my own religious views.
2: I believe that literature requires more intelligence than art
and music. Also, I do not consider science a passionate activity. I
think literature requires all three of those things.
3: I did not take a physics class in high school.
4: I thought it sounded like a fun, interesting class that could
help me in the future.
5: Why is the sky blue?
2: I believe science involes the utmost human expression of
passion, talent, and intelligence because it forms the basis of art,
literature, music, and so many other forms of human expression. Without
science, many of the simple tasks we take for granted would not be
possible. To me, science demonstrates one's passion to find an
explanation for some phenomenon. It is a demonstration of talent,
intelligence, and inquirty in its most natural state. Science forms the
basis of the most primitive of phenomenon, yet there is still so much
left to discover.
3: I mostly remember doing equations involving mass, velocity,
acceleration, etc. I remember struggling through physics class because I
could not explain WHY things occurred. My teacher did not explain
concepts well, and had little sympathy for those who did show a natural
understanding for the subject (which was me).
4: I wanted to take physics 123 because, at the moment, I do not
feel comfortable or confident enough to teach science. I am hoping that
after this class, I will have more confidence in my ability to explain
why things occur, as well as create simple and interesting activities
for students to complete. I do not want to panic if I do not immediately
know the answer to a student's question. I am hoping that Physics 123
will teach me how to investigate a question through inquiry and
experimentation.
5: What is density?
