Taking Physics 101 for Honors Credit

In order to get Honors Credit you must:

(LAS Requirements)
(1) Get an "Honors Credit Learning Agreement" (HCLA) from the Honors Desk at 270 Lincoln Hall and fill this out. Your Physics 101 lecturer (Peter) will have to fill out part of this and sign it. Or now I think there is an on-line version that you can do, then I get email and accept it via the web.

(2) This must be completed before the deadline which is typically several weeks into the semeter.

(3) Having completed items (4) and (5) described below, the HCLA Rules state that you must earn a final grade of B or above in Physics 101 in order to be awarded Honors Credit for the class.

(Physics 101 Requirements)
The honors credit assignment is to read a physics-based science article and write a 500-1000 word essay that analyzes the subject matter with concepts covered in Physics 101.  The level of your explanation should be appropriate for teaching the material to junior or senior high school students.  The article should come from a periodical science source, for example Science Magazine, Discover Magazine, Scientific American, the NY Times Science Section etc.  The article should have been published sometime in the last three years (i.e. it should be current).  

(4) By Monday, April 14, 2008  you should email your topic and an outline of your paper for approval to Prof. Abbamonte.

(5) By Friday, May 2, 2008 you should email the final versions of your paper to Prof. Abbamonte, and be ready for your presentation.
